Serving Others and Supporting Yourself | Newsletter: May 2026

Welcome to May!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this month’s theme is: “Breaking Generational Cycles Before They Repeat.”

For many adults, becoming a parent can bring old wounds to the surface- especially experiences connected to childhood trauma, emotional neglect, or difficult family dynamics. While this can feel overwhelming, it can also become an opportunity for healing, growth, and change.

Throughout May, we’ll be sharing insights on trauma, attachment, EMDR therapy, and how healing your past can help you build healthier relationships with yourself and your family. You do not have to navigate this journey alone.

Thank you for being here and prioritizing your mental health.

Here’s to a vibrant and inspiring May ahead!

Mental Health Tip of the Month:

Are your reactions coming from a past wound?

Pause before reacting and ask yourself: “Is this response coming from my present self, or from a past wound?”

Many generational patterns continue automatically through stress reactions, emotional shutdown, perfectionism, or difficulty expressing needs. Increasing self-awareness is one of the first steps toward breaking cycles and creating healthier relationships, both with yourself and your family.

Becoming a parent can bring unresolved childhood trauma to the surface in unexpected ways.

My latest blog explores:

  • What EMDR therapy is (and how it works)

  • Why childhood trauma often resurfaces during parenthood

  • How EMDR can help reduce triggers and build emotional resilience

  • Signs EMDR might be a good fit for you

Learn how trauma-informed therapy can support you in becoming a more grounded, connected, and emotionally present parent.
